Community Assistant Manager

POSITION:                             Community Assistant Manager (CAM)

LOCATION:                             Mebane, NC

CLASSIFICATION:                 Hourly, full-time


An Assistant Community Manager (“CAM”) is responsible for assisting the Community Management Leader (“CML”) in maximizing the current and potential future financial performance of the community and assets (including human) they are charged with leading.  A successful CAM will support the CML in leading their team to provide good housing to good neighbors by good people.  This is accomplished through priority management, effective and empowering delegation, positivity, humility, and continual improvement.  This position will attend meetings and training programs, and seek educational opportunities and self-improvement for personal growth and development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Efficient and timely reporting, maintenance and submission of all administrative forms, files, and reports.  Post rent and perform bookkeeping functions as necessary
  • Assist Property Manager in orientation, training, and scheduling of the leasing team
  • Inspect model, office, and vacant units as necessary to ensure marketability. Schedule and inspect all make-readies
  • Maintain an awareness of the “curb appeal” of the property
  • Conduct weekly reviews of occupancy, concession and traffic results, and use available tools to improve results
  • Lease to qualified prospects by showing available apartments; assist with lease renewal program with initial contact and follow-up on residents
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, residents/clients and other employees
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of leasing techniques and sales methods as designed by SPG
  • Ensure efficient and courteous response to all resident requests and inquiries
  • Assist CML in designing and implementing resident retention program including newsletters and social activities
  • Seek educational opportunities and self-improvement for personal growth and development
  • Actively participate in local trade organizations


Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED and two years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid NC driver’s license


Preferred Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • NAA/NALP designation desired
  • Fluency with database and reporting tools


The fiduciary nature of the job necessitates a criminal and driver’s license background check, and a comprehensive drug and opiate screen.
